Bio

I am a PhD candidate at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, in the Department of Technology & Operations Management.  I conduct research on human-AI interaction.

Previously I worked as a commodities trader in Europe, the US, and Asia.

Research

I am broadly interested in how humans make decisions against a certain causal structure or representation of the world.  Recently, the adoption of statistical learning algorithms has introduced a novel causal context for studying the human learning-cum-decision-making process.  My research explores how statistical learning algorithms interact with human agency, human causal reasoning, organizational information-processing, and organizational decision-making.

Interests

I have interests in philosophy, literature, and cinema.  A non-exhaustive list of writers and poets whose works I appreciate: Friedrich Hölderlin, Georg Büchner, Herman Melville, Luigi Pirandello, Robert Walser, Ludwig Hohl, Paul Celan, Cormac McCarthy, Peter Handke, and Krasznahorkai László.  Reading Emil Cioran and Thomas Bernhard was cathartic in youth but both writers appeal less to me now.  I have been studying Sanskrit, reading the Bhagavad Gītā and Buddhist thinkers such as Nāgārjuna and Vasubandhu.

Lately, I've become an aficionado of Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada cinemas.  I enjoyed watching Rocky, Saani Kaayidham, Joji, and Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana.  I've also been delving into the Malayalam parallel cinema of the 70s and 80s (Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Govindan Aravindan, John Abraham, and K. G. George).

Some good books I've read recently are Statistical Inference as Severe Testing, Causation with a Human Face, Evolutionary Processes and Organizational Adaptation, Buddhist Phenomenology, A Global History of Money, Dominus Mundi, Context Changes Everything, and Materalist Phenomenology.
